We are currently stuck at home, beyond our personal control. We don't have any choice in this decision. We are not able to enjoy the recreational and cultural activities we might normally do at this time of the year. But, we know it is temporary.

For individuals living with disabilities, this is their daily reality. Due to lack of staffing support, transportation and resources, individuals with disabilities are not able to leave their homes. It is beyond their personal control to change their circumstance. They are not able to enjoy leisure time with friends. This is their reality, and it is not temporary.

Challenge Mountain changes this reality for adults, youth and children living with disabilities. Free of charge, Challenge Mountain provides opportunities and resources for these individuals and their families to get out and experience life through recreational and cultural activities with friends.

Right now, social distancing is keeping us from providing our regular spring and summer adaptive programs. We know the need will still be there when it is safe to gather again.

Challenge Mountain relies on proceeds from the Resale Store and the generosity of donors to support our adaptive programs. With COVID-19 considerations and mandates:

  • The Resale Store has experienced a 33% loss in revenue since closing on March 16.
  • Planned foundation and corporate donations have been redirected to front line and essential non-profit organizations, traditionally averaging $25,000 for Challenge Mountain each year.
  • Budgeted funds averaging $15,000 annually will not be realized due to the cancellation of Boyne Thunder.

Challenge Mountain relies on this revenue and the generosity of donors to support programs.

Please consider a recurring donation to support adaptive programming in 2020 and beyond.
